OOIDA hosts anniversary event at Kansas Speedway in October
Press registation for media center is open
Grain Valley, Mo., July 31, 2013 – Press registration is open for the Heart of America Trucking Show at the Kansas Speedway. Hosted by OOIDA, the Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association, the 40th anniversary celebration event will be open to members, non-members, the public and takes place Oct. 18-19, 2013.
Attendees can plan on a weekend of gatherings, education seminars, contests, truck beauty competitions, concerts, food, a pet area, vendors and all-around good fun in celebrating the Association’s 40 years of fighting for the rights of truckers.
Safety and health will also be featured throughout the event with a Wellness Pavilion, a health walk, highway safety demonstrations and safe driver awards. Friday evening will feature a concert sponsored by Lucas Oil.
The location for the celebration, the Kansas Speedway, annually hosts national NASCAR events, which includes two NASCAR Sprint Cup Series events. The speedway is located at the intersection of I-435 and I-70 in Kansas City, Kansas, about 15 miles west of downtown Kansas City and less than an hour west of OOIDA’s Grain Valley, Mo., headquarters.
The Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association is the largest national trade association representing the interests of small-business trucking professionals and professional truck drivers. The Association currently has more than 150,000 members nationwide. OOIDA was established in 1973 and is headquartered in the Greater Kansas City, Mo., area.
